About 130,000 lightning strikes were recorded as severe storms tore a roof from a home and uprooted trees in south-east Queensland.

The Moreton Bay town of Dayboro, north north-west of Brisbane, copped the brunt of the overnight storms, with homes and trees suffering significant damage from large hail, strong winds and heavy rain.

Two lines of thunderstorms were responsible for damage throughout the south-east Queensland, with thunder rumbling throughout the night and about 130,000 lightning strikes were recorded.
