Enforcement of Rs. 25,000 traffic fine further delayed

National Council for Road Safety says that the enforcement of minimum traffic fine of Rs. 25,000 for selected traffic violations will be further delayed.
 
The regulation was to be enforced from today (01).
 
The Council's Chairman Dr. Sisira Kodagoda said the relevant documents are yet to be approved by the Legal Draftsman Department.
 
Fines on traffic offenses which will increase to Rs. 25,000 are:
 
Driving without a valid driving license.
Deploying persons without driving license in services
Driving under the influence liquor and drugs
Driving a vehicle into a railway road unsafely
Driving a vehicle without a valid insurance cover
 
However, relevant gazette is yet to be issued.
