CID commences investigations on the individuals who enabled the fleeing of Swiss Kumar

The CID have commenced investigations into arresting individuals that enabled the fleeing of Swiss Kumar who was imprisoned in connection to the Vithya murder.

When we inquired in to the matter, Police media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara noted that a special team from the CID has been sent to Jaffna to commence investigations.

Former DIG Lalith Jayasinghe was accused and later arrested for supporting the fleeing of Swiss Kumar; the suspect connected to the controversial rape and murder of Vithya who was a resident of Jaffna- Punkudathivu.

Further, allegations were levelled at a Senior Inspector for carrying out the order.

Police noted that information has come to light that several other individuals have also being co-conspirers connected to the incident.

Accordingly, a group from the CID has commenced investigations into the matter.
