Even though officials noted that measures have been taken to restore the supplying fuel as per usual, long queues were witnessed near filling stations all over the island today as well.

Our correspondents noted that certain filling stations displayed “No Petrol” signs.

Further it has been reported that the petroleum corporation has informed filling stations to restrict provision of petrol.

The Ministry of Petroleum Resources Development has requested the public to refrain from obtaining fuel in additional containers beyond what’s needed.

Several workers of the filling stations noted that petrol will be available only until midnight today.

Meanwhile, the petroleum corporation trade union says that the Indian oil company is attempting to create a fuel crisis by publicizing false information in order to unload the substandard fuel shipment.

The CPC union secretary D.J. Rajakaruna noted that the refused shipment continues to be anchored in Trincomalee.
