Our correspondents say that long vehicle queues are still reported nearby petrol stations in many parts of the island.
 
In some petrol stations, notices were seen, saying stocks are over.
 
Meanwhile, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has instructed petrol station owners to issue fuel on a quota basis.
 
Police have also deployed nearby petrol stations to ensure law and order are maintained.
 
Meanwhile, President Maithripala Sirisena has convened a meeting with the authorities of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation to discuss the prevailing fuel crisis.
 
It has been reported that during the meeting with the President, distribution of available stocks over the next few days was discussed.
 
At the same time, the subject Minister and his officials have also started a discussion with regard to fuel distribution at the Ministry.
 
The Managing Director of CPC Sanjeeva Wijerathna said that the daily requirement of fuel in Sri Lanka is between 2,500 to 2,700 metric tonnes.
 
He said the distribution of fuel began islandwide this morning accordingly and, the fuel shortage will ease off by this evening.
 
Meanwhile, Petroleum Ministry Secretary Upali Marasinghe stated that buffer stocks are available for another 4 days.
 
Meanwhile, the President of the Nidahas Sewaka Sangamaya of the CPC, Bandula Saman Kumara said that the island-wide oil crisis could be eased off fully only by 12th of November if an oil tanker arrives here by 8th of November.
