Former Minister Piyasena Gamage who was nominated for the UPFA Galle District Parliamentary seat fell vacant with the removal of Geetha Kumarasinghe, will take oaths in Parliament tomorrow (09).

Geetha Kumarasinghe lost her seat due to her dual citizenship.

Following the court decision, the Parliament Secretary-General informed the Election Commission Chairman that the seat was vacant.

Subsequently, after inquiring from the Galle District Returning Officer regarding this, the Election Commission Chairman issued a gazette notification stating that the person next on the preferential votes list is appointed to take the seat.
