Unavailability of surgeons at Puttalam hospital was an offence, authorities say

North Western Health Services Director N. Fareed says the unavailability of two surgeons at Puttalam hospital, when injured in Madurankuliya bus accident were taken there, was an offence.
 
He said the two doctors should have been in the hospital at that time according to the duty roster.
 
Dr. Fareed added the two surgeons will be taken action for their irresponsible actions.
 
He said this issue has already been reported to the Director General of Health Services.
 
7 persons were killed and 42 others sustained injuries in the bus accident that occurred on Monday morning (06), in Madurankuliya.
 
The injured were admitted to hospitals in Mundal and Puttalam.
 
However, when the injured were admitted to Puttalam Base Hospital, it was found both the surgeons were not there to treat the injured.
