"This destruction was caused within 3 months since forming government"

"Those who responsible should bear responsibility"

"Commission appointed not targeting someone in government"

"Small group in government accusing me"

"Mud being thrown at me spending money on Facebook, websites, newspapers and media entities operated overseas"

President Maithripala Sirisena says the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to investigate the controversial bond issuance was appointed not targeting anybody.

He said this speaking at an event in 'Ape Gama' in Battaramulla this morning (08). It was held to coincide with foundation laying for the statue of the late Ven. Maduluwawe Sobitha Thera.

"Some in the government are accusing me of appointing the Bond Commission and some are giving wrong impressions. There are campaigns in websites, FaceBook and in weekend newspapers. Those are done by spending money. Certain persons in the government are blaming me using media institutions being operated from outside the country. If Ven. Sobitha Thera was alive he would definitely felicitate me for appointing a Presidential Commission. Why did we come here? Did we come here to fill-up our pockets? I appointed the Presidential Commission not targeting someone in the government, not targeting ministers or MPs. The people of the country know the confusion prevailed due to the Central Bank incident. Just after 3 months since forming the government, this destruction was initiated. Those who are responsible for that should bear the responsibility".
