Neveska Lady oil tanker with a shipment of 40,000MT of petrol has entered the Sri Lankan territory.

It will reach Muthurajawela by around midnight today (08).

The Oil tanker is belonging to the United Arab Emirates.

The Harbour Master of Colombo Port told our news team that the oil will be pumped through the buoy at Muthurajawela.

At the same time, the Petroleum Resources Ministry stated that a team of laboratory technicians will be sent to the buoy to test the petrol before the pumping begins.

The Ministry Secretary Upali Marasinghe said that every possible step will be taken to distribute oil throughout the island after 2 pm tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the CPC trade unions noted that the oil shortage could continue for the next 2 days despite the arrival of the oil tanker.

However, Petroleum Ministry Secretary Upali Marasinghe said that the Corporation has sufficient stocks; therefore 2500MT will be distributed in the island tomorrow as well.
