President Maithripala Sirisena says that the government hopes to educate school students regarding the country's common laws.

The President expressed these views joining the Polonnaruwa district summit of the “Protect Children” national programme at the Polonnaruwa Royal College yesterday (10).

This programme is carried out by the Presidential Secretariat in keeping with a concept of the President to build a better environment for the physical and mental growth of the children and to protect them.

Save children from various menaces in society, prevent child abuse, ensure the protection of children, enhance of their good health condition, nutrition and welfare, personality development, develop their education and life skills are among the objectives of this programme.

The launching ceremony of this programme was held in September 2017 in Provincial Sports Complex in Digana, Kandy.
The national plan 2017 – 2019 in this regard was declared at that ceremony.
