Two persons including a monk were arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport who had sent women to Dubai for domestic work.

It was found that they have duped the authorities saying that the women are sent there to promote Buddhism.

The officials of Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau made the arrest.

A day before yesterday (09), a group of women were seen near the departure lounge of the BIA, clad in white.

It had aroused suspicion amongst the authorities and when they inquired from the women, they had said that they are to leave for Dubai to work as domestic servants.

However, they didn't have any document with them.

Then a monk who was with that group had said that the women are to leave for Dubai to promote Buddhism.

However, it was found all those women have children of under the age of 5.

The monk has paid Rs. 5,000 for each woman and they had been promised to pay Rs. 75,000 per month.

The women were also promised to pay Rs. 40,000 to work as domestic servants in Dubai.

It was found that the suspects have already sent 4 groups of women to Dubai in this manner.
