Sri Lanka accepts 177 recommendations at Geneva Human Rights review

The Universal Periodic Review on Sri Lanka has been adopted at the United Nations Human Rights Council.
 
This was the 3rd review on Sri Lanka.
 
President of the Human Rights Council Joaquín Alexander had proposed the working group to adopt the recommendation section of the draft report and the UPR of Sri Lanka and declared the section of the report is adopted.
 
The Sri Lankan delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, Dr. Harsha de Silva.
 
177 out of the 230 recommendations were accepted by Sri Lanka and 53 are to be evaluated while Sri Lanka had made 12 voluntary pledges as well.
 
Sri Lanka's special envoy to the Session, Deputy Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva had said all the recommendations made were constructive and useful.
 
He also said that Sri Lanka through its domestic processes, will look at all recommendations.
