Prime Minister visits tension-hit Gintota area

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says stern action will be taken against those who cause violence and unrest.

The Prime Minister said this after visiting the Gintota area this morning (19).

Our correspondent said that the PM had talked to the area residents and had promised to compensate the properties damaged during the unrest.

Meanwhile, Police said that situation in Gintota area has returned to normal now.

Police arrested 22 persons following unrest and later they were remanded.

Seven persons are in hospital with injuries.
