Police Media spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said that it had been decided to divide Gintota, Galle into three zones as a security measure.

Each division would be overseen by an ASP.

Responding to a query by our news team the media spokesman said that several senior police officers had been appointed to supervise actovities in the area.

currently there are no reports of further commotion in Gintota, the police special task force, the three armed forces and police have been deployed to ensure  security in the area. 

Meanwhile, several ministers including Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe visited Ginthota  yesterday  to observe the situation.

On this occasion the Prime Minister said that law  and order would be enforced against anyone instigating riotous behaviour irrespective of the status of persons concerned. 

The Prime Minister informed the people that measures have been taken to  record complaints regarding riots that may arise, where officers will visit people at their homes.

While 22 persons have been arrested as riots occurred in the area, three individuals were remanded till today and 19 individuals have been remanded till 30th this month.
