Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayarathna ordered today (21) that Gamini Senarath, the Chief of Staff of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and two other respondents be released on bail.

They were released on Rs. 50,000 cash bail and two surety bails of one million rupees each.

The two other accused were former directors of the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation, Piyadasa Kudabalage, and Neel Hapuhinna.

The suspects were also asked to surrender their passports to the courts.

Gamini Senerath and two others are accused of siphoning 4 billion rupees out of 18.5 billion rupees that had been approved by the Cabinet for a government hotel project.
