The Election Commission says that a discussion on LG polls will be held at the Commission on 25th of November.

The Commission told our news team that this will be held following the interim injunction which was issued today (22) on the Delimitation Gazette until 4th of December.

Issuing the Interim Injunction, the panel of Appeal Court judges stated that both the subject minister, as well as the Delimitation Committee have acted beyond the power vested in them in deciding the number of members to each local government authority.

Later, the Court ordered all respondents to appear before Court on 4th of December.

At the same time, Chairman of the Election Commission, Mahinda Deshapriya declined to comment on the developments.

However, Additional Election Commissioner, M.M. Mohamed said that the matter will be discussed when the Commission meets next Saturday.
