Police probes widen to identify murderers of 2 women in Matara

Police say that investigations have revealed that the 3-month pregnant woman who was murdered in Naawimana in Matara, had been sexually abused before she was killed.
Police found the bodies of two women last afternoon and they had been killed using sharp objects.
An 80-year-old mother-in-law and 38-year-old daughter-in-law had been found murdered.
Police noted that a group of unidentified intruders may have committed the murders.
Several suspects have been identified in connection.
A senior police officer of the Matara police noted that two teams have been deployed to continue the investigation.
