Minister of Sustainable Development and Wildlife, Gamini Jayawickrema Perera has ordered to deploy 5 teams to carry out a search operation to locate remnants of the carcass of Galgamuwe Dala Poottuwa.
 
Minister Perera said that parts of the carcass had been buried at a plot of private land in Polpithigama, Kurunegala.
 
It has been revealed that racketeers have removed the tusks of the elephant after killing it.
 
The Anti-vice unit of Walana, Panadura apprehended a pair of tusks on the 22nd of November when those were to be sold and 2 suspects were apprehended.
