The leaders of the Joint Opposition’s coalitions have decided to enter into an agreement before the forthcoming Local Government elections.

The decision was taken during last night’s meeting chaired by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Views on the ongoing talks with the SLFP were also shared during this meeting.

The meeting was held at the former President’s official residence.

Those in attendance had decided that the SLFP should quit the Government if it wants to continue the discussion.

At the same time, it was decided that the SLFP should fulfill the conditions conveyed by the Joint Opposition within the next week.

MP Ranjith Soyza told our news team that a decision would be taken on further discussions after reviewing the SLFP response.

However, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna said that the Joint Opposition leaders have already decided to contest the Local Government polls independently.
