Nilvala and Gin rivers reaching spill level, people urged to be vigilant

The Department of Irrigation says during the last 24 hours surroundings of Nilvala and Gin rivers received a high level of rainfall.
 
It said that the Nilvala River has reached spill level in the Pitabeddara, Paanadugama and Sapugoda areas.
 
The Gin River has reached spill level in the Thawalama area.
 
In this context, the Irrigation Department urged the people living in low-lying areas to be vigilant.
 
Meanwhile, several houses and low lying areas in Norwood and Bogawanthalawa have submerged due to the flash floods created by Keselgamu Oya in Hatton.
 
Police have taken steps to direct affected residents to safe areas.
