Minister of Labour W. D. J. Seneviratne has ordered the Sri Lanka Ports Authority to cancel a circular that had informed the workers of Hambantota Port not to report to work.

In this circular, the workers had been asked not to report to work from today (30).

This order was issued following a discussion with relevant stakeholders held at the Ministry of Labour this afternoon.

The Minister said the circular issued by the Chairman of Magampura Port Management Company has violated the labour regulations.

438 workers are employed at the Magampura Port.

The Port will be handed over fully to the Chinese Company from 9th of December.
