A group of workers is still occupying a building at the Hambantota Port for a 3rd day today (01) despite a stay order was obtained by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority.

The workers told our news team that they did not receive such a court order.

The workers are staying inside the building after a circular was issued informing them not to report for duty last Wednesday.

The workers say that they would not leave the premises until all its equipment at the port is taken over by the SLPA in writing.

In this backdrop, Labor Minister, W.D.J. Senevirathna yesterday ordered to cancel the Circular, issued by the Chairman of Magampura Port Management Company.

Meanwhile, the relatives of port workers are engaged in an indefinite sit-in protest for the last 11 days at the port entry road.
