North-Western Wildlife chief transferred

Wildlife Conservation Department’s North Western Zonal Wildlife Director has been transferred to Colombo immediately until the ongoing investigation into the Galgamuwa Dala Poottuwaa’s killing is over.
 
Sustainable Development and Wildlife Minister Gamini Jayawickrema Perera issuing a communiqué said that the Director was transferred to Colombo to facilitate a transparent investigation.
 
Currently, a 3-pronged investigation is being carried out into the killing of Galgamuwa Dala Poottuwa.
 
The Ministry said that the police, the Criminal Investigation Department, and the Wildlife Conservation Department have already begun investigations.
 
The CID has also begun a special investigation into the killing of tuskers and possible trafficking of ivory.
 
Meanwhile, the two Gramaseva Officers who were arrested on 2nd this month with ivory pendants have been remanded till tomorrow (06).
 
Police said currently 10 persons are in remand custody over their alleged links to the killing of Galgamuwa Dala Poottuwa and trafficking of tusks.
