The Met Department says that the low-pressure area in the South-East Bay of Bengal is located 1100km away from the Sri Lanka.
 
It is likely to develop into a depression during the next 24 hours, the Met Office said.
 
Therefore, the wind speed could be increased in the Eastern and Northern provinces and in Northern and Eastern sea areas from today (05).
 
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Northern, North-Central, Eastern, and Uva provinces.
 
Showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere after 2 pm.
 
Fairly heavy showers about 75 mm could be expected in Eastern, Northern, North-Central and Uva provinces.
