The Court of Appeal has rejected preliminary objections raised by GMOA President Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya against contempt of court charges filed by 'Purawesi Balaya'.

Filing the objections Dr. Padeniya requested the court to acquit him from the allegations against him over the Contempt of Court.

Accordingly, dates were fixed to hear the petition filed by two civil activists against Dr. Padeniya on 10th of March 2018.

This case was taken up before the Chairman of Court of Appeal, Justice, L.T.B. Dehideniya and Justice Shiran Gooneratne.

In the petition against Dr. Padeniya, the petitioners charged that the GMOA Chairman has degraded the verdict given by the Court of Appeal ordering the SLMC to register graduates of the Malabe Private Medical College.
