The long-distance services to be started from the Fort Railway Station have been cancelled.
 
The Railway Main Control Room said around 150 daily journeys have been cancelled as a result of the ongoing strike.
 
50 journeys of office trains were also cancelled.
 
The Train Engine Drivers' Union launched this strike last night urging the authorities to revise the existing recruitment methodology for assistant train drivers.
 
Meanwhile, Minister of Transport Nimal Siripala de Silva is scheduled to meet the trade union representatives this afternoon (07).
