A police investigation has been initiated against 2 former secretaries of Government Medical Officers’ Association, Dr. Nalinda Herath and Naveen de Zoysa.

They are accused of allegedly checking a file of postal voting applications relating to the election of the Sri Lanka Medical Council.

The investigation has begun following a written complaint made by the SLMC.

The former GMOA secretaries had come to the SLMC with 2 other doctors and had checked the postal voting list inside the watcher's enclosure.

The election to select 4 members to vacant positions at the SLMC is scheduled to be held during 23rd and 24th of January next year.

We contacted the President of the SLMC Dr. Colvin Gooneratne, who said steps will be taken to get advice to take legal action against those doctors.
