A group of representatives from a civil society organization in Enderamulla, Wattala met the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Faizer Mustapha today (20).

They handed over a document signed by the residents of Enderamulla seeking a solution to the issue of naming 4 Gramaseva divisions in Mahara Pradeshiya Sabha region as Akbar Town after amalgamating them.

Then the Minister contacted the Election Commission's Chairman Mahinda Deshapriva over the phone and said that he would have a discussion on that issue and will obtain the Committee recommendations as soon as possible in order to facilitate the relevant amendment.

He told the area residents that the name change was not a decision taken by his Ministry and it was included in the report submitted by the Asoka Peiris Committee with the recommendations of the District Secretary.
