Fine for vandalizing archaeological property increased

The Department of Archaeology has decided to amend the Archaeological Act, to 2 million rupees if an archaeological property is vandalized.
 
At present offenders are liable to be fined 50,000 rupees or be sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment.
