Police foil attempt to sell a pair of tusks for Rs. 5mn

Police have arrested 3 persons today (Dec. 29) after they had attempted to sell a pair of elephant tusks for Rs. 5 million.
 
Initially, police arrested a resident of Mannar based on information received by the Superintendent of Police in the Anuradhapura Division.
 
Upon interrogation, he had revealed information of 2 other suspects who were negotiating the deal.
 
They were arrested in Silavatura in Mannar.
 
Later police recovered the pair of tusks buried in Thanthirimale.
 
Both the tusks were over 4 feet long and the diameter was around 14 inches.
 
The suspects aged 38 and 58 were residents of Silavatura and will be produced before courts tomorrow.
