Police suspect foul play in Britisher’s death

Police say that the death of a British national on Tuesday (Jan. 02) may be a murder.
 
Police arrested 2 individuals on suspicion in connection with this mysterious death, in Maradana, last night.
 
It was revealed that the 37-year-old British National was a drug addict and he had come to Sri Lanka in November to get rehabilitated.
 
Then he had admitted to a rehabilitation center in Wadduwa.
 
But after it was found that he had taken some narcotic pills while being rehabilitated, the center had decided to send him back to the UK on 18th of December.
 
However, without returning home, he had come back to Maradana in a taxi from Katunayake and had resided at a hotel in Maradana.
 
The victim had met the suspects during his stay in Maradana and then he had told them that he needed heroin.
 
Accordingly, they have bought heroin for Rs. 2,000 from the Grandpass area.
 
Thereafter, he had visited a house of a suspect and had injected the narcotic, but he had fainted following the injection was administered.
 
Then the suspects had dumped the body of the foreigner at Araliya Uyana in Maligawatta, using a three-wheeler.
 
At the time of the arrest, the suspects were having in their possession, the British national's passport, air ticket, cash, and the wristwatch.
