The Australian Navy has pulled in a second massive drug haul in a week, seizing 3.5 tonnes of hashish worth an estimated $ 181 million, in waters in the Middle East.

An earlier operation executed between 27-29 December captured 8 tonnes of hashish and 69kg of heroin, worth an estimated $ 415 million.

The combined seizures, conducted under the direction of the Combined Maritime Forces’ (CMF) Australian-led Combined Task Force 150, amount to 11.5 tonnes of hashish and 69kg of heroin worth an estimated $ 596 million.

In the latest bust, officers from the Australian Navy’s Warramunga vessel, with support from a UK Royal Navy helicopter, intercepted and boarded a ship suspected of illegal activity in international waters on 3rd of January.
