Body parts of 'Kallaru Tusker' to be DNA tested

Body parts of 'Kallaru Tusker', believed to be another innocent victim of the ivory trade has been sent for DNA tests.

Police said that therefore the skull and body parts of the 'Kallaru Tusker' which were found from the Mullikulam Forest Reserve in Silawatura and tusks will be sent for DNA tests.

Police seized a pair of 4-feet long tusks believed to have been extracted from the Kallaru tusker on December 28th in Tantirimale.

Three suspects were also arrested during the raid.

The suspects are already in remand custody until the 12th of this month.
