The Met Department says that the 'cool climate' which is prevailing on the island could continue.

Yesterday (Jan. 06), the night minimum temperature values were 05 0C below normal at Jaffna, Maha-Iluppallama, Nuwara-Eliya and Trincomalee, 04 0C below normal at Kurunegala and Ratnapura, 03 0C below normal at Anuradhapura, Badulla, Batticaloa, Katugastota, Katunayake, and Puttalam, 02 0C below normal at Colombo, Hambantota and Mannar.

Night minimum temperature values were little below normal elsewhere.

The maximum temperature of 32.70C was reported at Ratnapura.

The minimum temperature of 4.7 0C was reported at Nuwara-Eliya.

The Department added that the dry weather with colder nights and mornings can expect over most parts of the island.

Ground frost can be expected at some places in the Nuwara-Eliya district in the early hours of the morning.
