Former Minister Ravi Karunanayaka summoned to courts

Colombo additional Magistrate Dulani Amarasinghe issued notice yesterday (Jan. 9) summoning former Minister of Finance, Ravi Karunanayake to courts on the 9th of March.

Karunanayake has been summoned to provide evidence with regard to the case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

It related to the loss of 4 million rupees, incurred by the government owing to the sale of imported rice disregarding the pricing formula.

Ravi Karunanayake was the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs from 2001-2002.

The case was filed by the Bribery Commission Vimal Perera, who was the Chairman of Sathosa at that time.
