The bodies of 2 Sri Lankan fishermen who died after their vessel collided with a ship in the seas off Dondra have now been kept at Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.
 
The mishap had taken place at around 11.30 pm yesterday (Jan. 09) around 13 nautical miles away from the coast.
 
The Navy Spokesperson said that at the time of the accident that there were 7 fishermen in the vessel.

He disclosed that one of them was already dead by the time the accident had occurred.

The vessel, Nadhisha 2 had ventured into the sea from Hikkaduwa Fishing Harbour on 5th of January.

Sri Lanka Navy stated that it had met with the accident while it was returning to the harbour after one of its fishermen died of a heart attack.

One person is still missing following the mishap, and the Navy Spokesperson said that 2 teams of divers have been deployed to find him.

The Spokesperson also said that the body of the person who died earlier is still in the ill-fated vessel.
 
Three of the occupants of the vessel were unharmed.
