The Government Medical Officers' Association has confirmed that it would launch its planned island-wide strike from 8 am tomorrow (Jan. 30).

The strike will be launched demanding solutions for 10 issues including the SAITM crisis.

The GMOA issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the government yesterday demanding solutions to the issues highlighted by them.

The GMOA Secretary, Dr. Haritha Aluthge told a media conference held in Colombo today that the trade union action will be staged as planned since the government has failed to respond.

Meanwhile, the IUSF has written to President Maithripala Sirisena with regard to the breach of the agreement reached with the government to abolish Malabe Private Medical College.

The student Union accused in a letter to the President that the government is preparing to market the medical degree again through SLIIT.
