Hundreds of patients seeking treatment at government hospitals were disappointed this morning (Jan. 30) due to the strike launched by the Government Medical Officers’ Association.

Clinical and OPD services came to a standstill at many of the government hospitals.

The GMOA launched the token strike demanding that solutions be given to 10 issues including the abolition of SAITM.

However, Director of the Colombo National Hospital, Dr. W. K. Wickramasinghe told ‘Hiru News’ that steps would be taken to ensure that the emergency services were fully operational and that scheduled surgeries would take place without delay.
