Thambuttegama road tragedy kills four

Four persons including a 9-year-old boy died in a road accident involving a three-wheeler and a small lorry in Thispanepura in Thambuttegama this morning (Feb. 04).

Police said the ill-fated vehicles had collided head-on.

The three-wheeler was travelling from Balaluwewa to Andarawewa while the small lorry was travelling in the opposite direction.

Four occupants of the three-wheeler including the driver had succumbed to injuries after being admitted to Thambuttegama Hospital.

All the victims were males.

Four others including the lorry driver are being treated at the Thambuttegama Hospital.

Meanwhile, two women were killed when a three-wheeler collided with a train in Iiriyagahalinda level crossing in Negombo at around 7.35 pm yesterday.

The train was travelling from Negombo to Colombo.

Two others were also injured in the mishap.

The two women had died after they were admitted to Negombo Hospital.
