Another investigation to be mooted against Uva Chief Minister.

Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission says that it is possible to initiate an investigation into an incident where Uva Chief Minister Chamara Sampath Dassanayake had allegedly threatened and attempted to assault a Buddhist monk.

The Chief Minister is currently under investigation for allegedly forcing a principal to kneel down before him.

A spokesperson for the Commission noted that an investigation can be launched based on the reports published.

Currently, video footage of the incident is circulating on social media.

The incident had taken place at the Uva Provincial Council premises.

The Union of Unemployed Graduates had met with the Uva Chief Minister, two months ago at the Provincial Council premises to discuss their issues.

The Convener of the Union, Ven. Thenne Ghnaananda Thera said that when the group had entered the Provincial Council premises for discussions the attempted assault took place.

When contacted, the Uva Chief Minister said that the incident took place some time ago and he did not attempt to assault the monk.
