National STD/AIDS Control Programme says in January alone 30 new HIV cases were detected in January this year.

The director of the programme, Dr. Sisira Liyanage said they conducted 100,000 tests for HIV in January.

He disclosed that blood tests for HIV are conducted in the clinics established at government hospitals.
