The opposition party leaders, Prof. G. L. Peiris, NFF leader Wimal Weerawansa and Joint Opposition leader Dinesh Gunawardena say that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna has recorded a landslide win in the election and now the government should resign immediately.

They expressed these views addressing a media conference in Battaramulla this morning.

MP Dullas Alahapperuma meanwhile said that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe too should resign immediately.

The SLPP Chairman Prof. Peiris said that President Maithripala Sirisena has failed to retain even the Polonnaruwa district as the SLPP has won the district by over 8,000 votes.

He said that it proved that SLFP membership is not with the President and considering that he should immediately resign from the party chairmanship.
