The time granted to former Central Bank Governor Arjun Mahendran, to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department to submit his statement, ends tomorrow.

Mahendran has been named as one of the suspects connected to the Central Bank bond scam.

He now resides in Singapore.

The Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne issued summons to him, on 5th this month, to appear before the CID.

The summons gave the suspect, a period of ten days within which to appear before the CID.

However, police sources have confirmed that up to now, Mahendran has not returned to Sri Lanka.

Perpetual Treasuries owner Arjun Aloysius and the company’s CEO Kasun Palisena, who are both suspects in the same case, are currently in remand custody.

The Colombo Fort Magistrate granted the CID permission to obtain statements from both the suspects over three days.
