Reliable sources confirmed that the much anticipated Cabinet reshuffle will take place tomorrow morning (Feb. 25).

According to government sources, many ministerial portfolios, as well as subjects of certain ministries, are expected to be changed.

This is the second Cabinet reshuffle of the present government.

A senior Minister stated that changes will be made to several ministries including Higher Education and Public Enterprise Development.

Despite the various opinions that Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka is to be appointed as the Minister of Law and Order, it is reported that the SLFP has strongly opposed this measure.

Furthermore, a government Minister stated that the portfolios of Ministers S. B. Dissanayake, Vijith Vijithamuni de Zoysa, Dayasiri Jayasekara and Harin Fernando are also to be changed.

Additionally, the portfolio of Foreign Affairs currently held by Minister Tilak Marapana and the portfolio of Wildlife currently held by Minister Gamini Jayawickrama Perera is also to be changed.

A government Minister further said that several Deputy Ministers including Ajith P. Perera and Harsha de Silva will be given non-cabinet Ministerial portfolios.

Changes are also to be made to the Ministry of Foreign Employment which is currently under the purview of Minister Thalatha Athukorala.
