Government ready to respond to scheduled statement by UNHR Commissioner

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that Sri Lanka will issue a statement following the scheduled statement UN Human Rights High Commissioner Zeid Rad Al Hussein at the 37th session of the UN Human Rights Council on 21st of March.

The Spokesperson of the Ministry Mahishini Colonne told our new team that the statement by the UN Human Rights High Commissioner will be translated into five languages.

UN Human Rights High Commissioner Zeid Rad Al Hussein has requested the UN Human Rights Council to look into steps that need to be taken to strengthen the process of accountability in Sri Lanka.

The UN Human Rights High Commissioner has also stated that Sri Lanka needs to be committed to implementing recommendations made through the resolution on Sri Lanka.
