Jaffna Police say the body of a medical student from the Jaffna Medical College was found in the Kandarmadam area in Jaffna.

It was found yesterday (Feb. 27).

The victim was 26-year-old Emmanuel Ramuwel, a resident of Vavuniya.

He was a 4th-year student at the Jaffna Medical College.

The body was found in his boarding room.

Police said after colleagues had noticed that he had not come to the campus, they had gone and searched his room.

Then they have found his body.

Police suspect that Ramuwel had committed suicide by hanging due to exam pressure.

Meanwhile, his brother has revealed that the deceased had several times sought medical advice for depression caused by exam pressure.
