Cabinet has granted approval to sign a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding between Sri Lanka, India and Japan to establish a Liquid Natural Gas terminal and Floating Natural Gas terminal in Kerawalapitiya, Wattala.
 
The joint Cabinet proposal was submitted by Development Strategies and International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickrama and Ports and Shipping Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe.
 
Electricity will be generated from this facility.
 
The shareholding of the joint venture will be as follows,
           
Sri Lanka Gas Terminal Ltd                      15%
           
Petronet LGN Ltd of India                        47.5%
 
Sojits Corporation and Mitsubishi
Company of Japan                                    37.5
