Law and Order Ministry issues statement on Ampara incident

Ministry of Law and Order says there are complaints of shortcomings in implementing the law relating to the recent incident in Amparai.

The Ministry said it was also reported that the "B report" submitted to the court was incomplete.

Issuing a statement, the Ministry said that DIG incharge of Batticaloa has been assigned to undertake a full probe in to the incident.

The Ministry of Law and Order emphasized that it will enure fair implementation of law and order in order to build public trust.

It added that compensation will be paid without delay for the properties that were destroyed and damaged due to mob attacks.

The Ministry said compensation will be released speedily to renovate damaged shops and the mosque.

It added that in future those who engage in attacks of this nature will be severely dealt with under the legal provisions.
