The UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Jeffrey Feltman will arrive in the country on Friday for a special tour.
 
He is scheduled to have discussions with President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, political party leaders and the civil organization representatives.
 
Addressing the journalists at the daily media briefing held yesterday, Media Spokesperson of the UN Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric said that the Under Secretary for Political Affairs will engage in the tour despite the prevailing state of emergency in the island.
 
He will stay in the country until 11th of March.

Meanwhile, the special envoy of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention, Prince Mired Al-Hussein of Jordan engaged in an inspection tour in Muhamalai in Jaffna yesterday (Mar. 06).

Prince Mired has said that in comparison to other countries, Sri Lanka has been ahead in clearing anti-personnel mines.

Security Forces’ Commander in Jaffna, Major General Darshana Hettiaarachchi joined the visiting special envoy.

Prince Mired Al Hussein is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today.
