UN says ‘attention drawn to the situation in Sri Lanka’

The United Nations said its attention has been drawn to the prevailing situation in Sri Lanka.
 
Addressing the journalists yesterday (Mar. 06), media spokesperson for the Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric said that the situation should be settled by the factions within the country.
 
Meanwhile, State Department of the United States posted a Twitter message warning its citizens to be cautious in travelling to Sri Lanka.
 
Issuing a communiqué, the United Kingdom also warned its citizens touring Sri Lanka to not to visit places where local demonstrations and other public gatherings are being held.
 
In addition, the Australian Foreign Ministry said that Australians who are visiting Sri Lanka should follow the official announcements and media releases.
 
The ambassador of United Arab Emirates in Sri Lanka Suleiman J. Mohideen has told the media that the state of emergency has been declared in Sri Lanka to ensure security in the country.
 
He said that the government has taken the measures to control the prevailing situation.
 
In the meantime, Malaysian airlines stated in a media communiqués that none of their daily flights has been cancelled due to the current state of emergency in the country.
